Preparing for Your Tan!
- EXFOLIATE EXFOLIATE EXFOLIATE!! Book us for a full body exfoliation if time permits or thoroughly exfoliate your body the night before using exfoliating hand gloves or a washer used firmly. Pay special attention to feet, ankles, knees, elbows as these areas tend to be drier and may ‘grab’ too much tan.
- Wax 24 hours before. Hair removal must be done prior to tanning. Shaving on the day is fine (if you have sensitive skin shave day before)
- Do not moisturise your body, or apply deodorant, wear makeup or perfume to your tanning session. These cause a barrier on the skin hindering development of full colour potential.
- Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Most women wear a g-string or go nude. Guys must wear jocks. We also bring disposable g-strings, so if you are worried with what to wear (if not nothing) don't worry - we'll fix it :-)
- Wear loose, dark clothing after tanning. No tight clothing, closed in shoes or boots. Jewellery will have to be removed and a bra cannot be put back on. These items rub on the tan and the outcome is an uneven result.
After Tan Care
- Do not shower for 2-12 hours after your tan (check with your tanner what product they are using). Use a Body Wash (without Sodium Laurel Sulphate) to gently cleanse skin without stripping off tan and to keep skin hydrated. I use a body shower oil, and my tan lasts over a week!
- Avoid activities that will cause you to perspire. This will affect the result of your tan.
- MOISTURISE MOISTURISE MOISTURISE!! Moisturise twice daily. This promotes a longer lasting tan and enables tan to fade evenly. Opt for a moisturising body shower oil - such as Palmers Shower Oil, I love it!
- Avoid activities that naturally exfoliate your skin. This includes long baths, shaving too often, rubbing with a towel (pat dry only) Chlorinated pools bleach your tan.
- Sit on a towel and not directly onto furniture after your tanning session.
- Do not use lotions with Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (AHA's) or Glycolic Acid. Their purpose is to promote exfoliation to reveal new skin.
